Rights
Copyright and takedowns
Noosic is built on other people’s music. We respect the rights of artists, labels and everyone who makes things, and we expect the same from everyone who posts here. Only share what you made yourself or are allowed to share.
1. What this covers
Anything people put on Noosic: posts and replies, profile texts, artist bios and links, uploaded covers and images, room previews, and GIFs or memes attached from the KLIPY library. Album and artist artwork from the Apple Music catalogue is not stored by Noosic; your browser loads it directly from Apple. Notices about it therefore belong with Apple; we pass on anything sent to us, and a work disappears from Noosic when Apple removes it from the catalogue.
2. Report something quickly
Signed in, use Report on the post, profile or artist page and choose Copyright. Tell us in the note which work it is and why it is yours. That is enough for most cases.
3. Send a formal notice
You can always send a notice by email to info@noosic.com with the subject “Copyright notice”, without an account. So we can act on it, please include:
- the work you believe is being infringed (for example a title, or a link to it);
- where exactly it is on Noosic: the link to each post, profile or page, as precise as possible;
- your name and how to reach you (address, email, and phone if you like);
- a statement that you believe in good faith that the use is not authorised by the rights holder, its agent or the law;
- a statement that the information in your notice is accurate and that you are the rights holder or allowed to act for them;
- your physical or electronic signature (a typed full name is fine).
This covers a notice under the EU Digital Services Act (Art. 16) as well as a notice under the U.S. Digital Millennium Copyright Act (17 U.S.C. § 512(c)(3)). Knowingly false notices can make you liable for damages.
4. What happens next
We confirm that we received your notice and look at it promptly. If it holds up, we remove the content or block access to it, tell the person who posted it why (including the substance of the notice, but not more of your personal details than necessary), and record the decision. We tell you what we decided. Decisions are made by people, not automatically.
5. If your content was removed
If you think it was removed by mistake or you have permission, tell us why: write to us as described under Disagree with a decision?, or, if it came with a sanction, appeal in the app (Settings → Account → Account status). For a U.S. counter-notice, include your name, address and phone number, the removed content and where it was, a statement under penalty of perjury that you believe in good faith it was removed by mistake, your consent to the jurisdiction of the competent court, and your signature. We forward it to the person who sent the notice and may restore the content after 10 to 14 business days unless they tell us they have started legal action.
6. Repeat infringement
Every upheld copyright removal counts against the account under our community guidelines. A first case usually ends with a removal and a warning; repeated cases lead to restrictions and, for people who infringe again and again, to closing the account.
